Nature in the Classroom Workshop + SHRMF Educator Night

Join Norfolk Botanical Garden and other South Hampton Roads Museum Forum (SHRMF) organizations for an evening of refreshments, networking, campus exploration, and break-out sessions that invite educators to learn more about the programs offered by local cultural institutions! The workshop schedule will be announced closer to the program date. The schedule below provides some information on break-out session and tram tour times. Participants will earn five (5) professional development points to go towards their licensure renewal by attending any combination of break-out sessions and tours of the Garden.
Registration is limited to the first 150 educators. Registration fees include Garden admission, light refreshments, access to private tram tours, and entry into a raffle prize for several prizes.
- Price: $15/Educator.
- Check-In: 4-6PM. The full workshop is 4:30-8PM.
- Break-Out Sessions: 4:45-5:15PM, 5:30-6PM, 6:15-6:45PM, 7-7:30PM.
- Session Topics Include: Session topics to be announced! Sessions are recommended for K-8 educators.
- Narrated Tram Tour: 5:30PM, 6:30PM
- Self-Guided Tours: Tropical Display House, Japanese Garden, Rose Garden
- Raffle Prize Drawings: 7:45PM
- Attending Organizations: Norfolk Botanical Garden, MacArthur Memorial, Hampton Roads Naval Museum, Preservation Virginia – Cape Henry Lighthouse, Virginia Zoo, Virginia Beach History Museums, Nauticus & Battleship Wisconsin, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
Registration Information
- To ensure we have the correct name and contact information for each attending educator, all attendants are asked to register their own ticket.
- Attending educators are asked to complete any combination of five (5) break-out sessions or tours of the Garden during the October 2024 workshop to receive their five (5) professional development points.
- Educators are highly advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and to dressed to be outside for portions of the workshop.
- Admission to the event is only extended to the teachers registered for the workshop. Additional guests are not permitted.
- The workshop is recommended for K-8 professional educators, homeschool educators, and college students pursuing licensure.
- Upon completion of the workshop, participants are required to complete a digital survey to provide feedback on the professional development opportunity. Certificates confirming the professional development points will be sent out once the surveys are completed.
