Fido Etiquette Policy

  • ADA service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are always welcome at NBG. Under the ADA, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. Emotional support dogs do not qualify as service animals according to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Non-service animal dogs are welcome on Sunday’s only.
  • Dogs must be on a leash at all times, even if they are in a carrier or a stroller. Leashes must be no longer than 6 feet and should be non-retractable.
  • Hands-free leashes are not permitted at the Garden for the safety of all dogs and Garden guests.
  • Any dogs behaving in an unruly or aggressive manner (IE: excessive barking, growling, lunging, biting, etc.) will be asked to leave.
  • Are there restrictions to the types of dogs welcome on Sunday Dog Days? For the safety of all dogs and Garden guests, we recommend leaving puppies under 4 months old, sick dogs, dogs with active injuries, and female dogs in heat at home.
  • Can I bring a pet that is not a dog? – No, only dogs are permitted on Sunday Dog Days at this time.
  • Will dog supplies be provided? – No, guests are asked to bring their own treats, water bowls, and waste bags in the interest of dog health and safety. There are additional waste bins around the Garden to dispose of waste bags during your visit.
