Adopt A Butterfly

Your generous donation supports the butterflies, helps more than 45,000 summer visitors discover the wonders of nature, and protects our environment. Visitors can learn about the butterfly’s life cycle, the amazing migration of the monarch, and so much more. Your gift also supports the Garden’s educational programs and its work in environmental stewardship and conservation. Together, we can protect nature, inspire curiosity, and care for our fluttery friends.

Donors receive a butterfly adoption certificate and their names are recognized on signage at the front entrance to the Butterfly House during the summer season.

The Summer Butterfly House at Norfolk Botanical Garden was originally a temporary summer exhibit in 2009. Due to its popularity it became a permanent annual exhibit and a regular destination for summer visitors.

Maintaining the Summer Butterfly House and its inhabitants is an intensive and rewarding endeavor for our non-profit organization. In 2022 and 2024, major renovations were completed that included an expanded accessible pathway, a new entrance and installation of new screens throughout the house.
