THANK YOU for helping us raise more than $14,000 for our pilot adoption program. Your donation supports our conservation efforts in the Summer Butterfly House.

Check back soon to learn about opportunities to support the Butterfly House in 2024!

The Summer Butterfly House at Norfolk Botanical Garden was originally a temporary summer exhibit in 2009. Due to its popularity it became a permanent annual exhibit and a regular destination for summer visitors. The house connects people of all ages to the wonders of nature and the unique science of metamorphosis to the mystifying migration of the monarch butterfly. By hosting native butterflies and native moth species along with the plants that support their life cycles, guests can learn how to protect these pollinators by reducing harmful pesticides and how to take action by encouraging butterflies to their own gardens.

Maintaining the Summer Butterfly House and its inhabitants is an intensive and rewarding endeavor for our non-profit organization. In 2022, major renovations were completed that included an expanded accessible pathway, a new entrance and installation of new screens throughout the house. Last summer, over 35,000 visitors were recorded visiting the house and we’re expecting even higher visitation this season!

We Need Your Help

Your support of a $200 donation will help grow and maintain our educational programs and gardens related to butterflies. This is a great giving opportunity for individuals and families to add their name or that of a loved one to a list of people who love gardens and wildlife as much as you do.

Your $200 donation includes name recognition (up to 30 characters) on a sign to be displayed in the 2023 Summer Butterfly House from mid-June to mid-September. Sign up today and reserve your spot. We added a second sign due to the popularity of the program. There are a limited number of butterflies left.
