Getting into Your Zone-Crafting a Complete Map for Plant Hardiness
With Darrin Duling, Associate Director of the Arthur and Phyllis Kaplin Orchid Conservatory
Date/TimeThursday, November 13
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Temperature zone maps are valuable tools that help gardeners figure out what may be grown in a certain area. However, they are useful only as a general guide and should be combined with a variety of other regional climatic factors when considering whether a plant will thrive or fail. This interactive presentation will focus on growing conditions in Hampton Roads and, while we will start by looking at plants from certain parts of the world that should be mostly ignored, we will focus on new and out of the ordinary species that can possibly be grown outside of their zone rating with proper placement and site preparation.
