Volunteers potting plantsThe reasons people have for volunteering are as varied as the people themselves. “I just love the Garden, and want to help where I can.” – “I need volunteer hours for school.” – “I moved and I miss having a garden.” – “I want to meet people.” – “I want to give back to the community.” – “We want to do something together as a family.” – “It’s just a beautiful place to be.”

  • Find out how you can help by searching our volunteer needs.
  • In return for all volunteers do for the Garden, they receive many benefits.

Minimum age for volunteers working on their own is 14 years. Volunteers younger than 14 are required to work along side a parent or family member at least 18 years old. Families are welcome to volunteer together; the youngest family member must be at least 10 years old. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to work without a parent in the Gift Shop, Library, Facilities or in the Horticulture Department.

We welcome students, scouts, or clubs who want to come out as a group for a special project. The ratio of adults to youth is 1 adult to every 5 youth, and the adults will work along side the younger volunteers.

Volunteers are the greatest people in the world, because they give the most precious gift – their time.
