Looking for a kayak adventure? Join us for a guided kayak tour! Enjoy a relaxing paddle with experienced guides exploring the world of plants & animals that inhabit the shores and waters of Lake Whitehurst. Kayaks, paddles and necessary safety equipment will be provided. Sit-on-top (wet kayaks) will be used, so plan to get wet. No experience necessary. This tour is great for beginners and will include pre-trip instructions. Please leave all electronics in your vehicle.
Limited kayaks left. Please call 757-441-5830 ext 338 for availability.
$50 ($65 for not-yet-members)
Individual children between the ages of 3 – 16 must register with a parent. Small children will be placed in the front seat of a double kayak with a parent.
Everyone will be required to wear a life jacket.
What to Bring:
• Water Shoes (Teva-type sandals, aqua socks, or old tennis shoes)
• Small Water Bottle
• Sun Glasses and a strap to hold them on
• Hat or Visor
• Bathing Suit–we do get wet!
• Sunscreen (Be sure to apply BEFORE leaving home, to avoid greasy hands and slippery paddling.)
• Towels and change of clothing to leave in the car
Kayak Nature Tours does not recommend bringing cameras/cell phones or electronic devices that may become wet, submerged or lost. If you would like to take photos during your trip, please bring a disposable water-proof camera.
Both double and single sit-on-top kayaks are available on a limited first come first served basis. Kayak preference must be requested at the time of reservation, but is not guaranteed. Double kayaks are more stable, easier to paddle and can be faster with synchronized paddling. Kayak Nature Tours recommended double kayaks for couples, and Norfolk Botanical Garden requires double boats for parents with small children. Kayak Nature Tours also recommends the use of a double kayak for guests who are less experienced/active, nervous, or who do not weigh more than 110 lbs. Kayak Nature Tours recommends single kayaks for active individuals who weight at least 110 lbs. or for individuals who have previous kayaking experience.
