The Science of Climate Inequity-Zoom Class

The Science of Climate Inequity-Zoom Class

with Chief Scientist of the Science Museum of Virginia Dr. Jeremy Hoffman

Thursday, September 30
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This class will be held online via Zoom.

Walking, riding, or driving through our cities, we can observe the stark differences in environmental amenities offered by various neighborhoods: some are tree-lined while others are seas of concrete and asphalt. These land use patterns can either raise or lower local air temperatures, absorb or funnel rainfall and flood waters, and even improve or worsen our mental health! What’s the science behind these effects and how did we get here? In this presentation, Dr. Hoffman will introduce recent research connecting present-day environmental inequity with nearly century-old maps and visions for the future.

Registered students will receive login instructions the day of class.
