This course has been cancelled.
This is a four day workshop: Thursday May 16th – Sunday May 19th.
This extended weekend photo workshop on the Outer Banks includes a variety of photographic opportunities with visits to local lighthouses, isolated beaches, inland dunes, small work boat harbors, historic sites, wildlife refuges, and parks intermixed with critiques of participant images. The Outer Bank’s miles of pristine shoreline and shifting dunes are some of the most beautiful in North America. Over the ocean, along the shore, and in the marshes, waterways, and forests, we will search for wildlife characteristic of the region, including pelicans, herons, shorebirds, warblers, pelagic seabirds, dolphins, and more. We’ll visit Jockey’s Ridge; Bodie, Currituck Beach, Roanoke, & Cape Hatteras Lighthouses; Wanchese and Engelhard harbors; historic Manteo; Pea Island NWR; and Hatteras National Seashore. Workshop begins with an orientation on 16 May, 7:30-9:00 PM. Workshop ends with a final critique and discussion on 19 May at 2:30 PM. Base of operations is the Best Western Ocean Reef Suites at Kill Devil Hills, NC, (252 441-1611).
The exact itinerary will vary with the weather, conditions on site, availability of photo subjects, and desires of the group. Accommodations, food, and transportation are the responsibility of participants.
