This spring, walk through a mile of colossal Asian lanterns. Norfolk Botanical Garden will transform the Garden’s landscape with enormous works of art – stunning during the day, and magic by night. Lantern Festivals are an ancient tradition that began more than 2,000 years ago in China. Tianyu Culture Communication located in Zigong, China is bringing this extraordinary event to the Garden. They have traveled to Beijing, Sydney, Rotterdam, and to the U.S – North Carolina, New Orleans, Philidelphia, and Norfolk Botanical Garden.
LanternAsia returns MARCH 9, 2018!
Garden Temporarily Closing
Installation of these massive structures is a complex undertaking. To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Garden will close for a short period of time to allow 30 Chinese visiting artisans to build and install dozens of massive structures for LanternAsia. Mirror Lake (a mile long loop) will open for Garden Members Only from February 5-March 8, 2018 — exclusive parking restricted to the picnic area.
