Butterfly Festival

Join NBG and the Butterfly Society of Virginia for the 2015 Butterfly Festival!  Enjoy educational booths and demonstrations, activities for butterfly enthusiasts and families. The Festival also includes face painting, crafts, food, gardening information, an up close experience with butteflies and much more.

 

 

Festival includes:

  • Butterfly Society Plant Sale & Boutique
  • Butterfly activities in WOW
  • Polination Station-Wildflower Meadow

9:30              “CATERPILLARS ARE COOL, AND RAISING THEM IS EVEN COOLER!” –  by Steve and Karen McCurdy, BSV Co-Vice Presidents.   Location: Migration Station Education Arena

10:00           “POLLINATOR HABITAT WALK and TALK” – Theresa Augustin, NBG Curator of Natural Areas, and Tom Houser, NBG Senior Horticulturalist.   Location: Pollination Station

10:15           “BRISTOW BUTTERFLY GARDEN TOUR” – led by Linda Saunders, NBG Senior Horticulturalist.
Location: Tour begins at the Butterfly Sculpture

10:30           “MONARCHS & THEIR LIFE CYCLE” –  by Lauren Tafoya, BSV Board Member and Butterfly Tender for NBG’s Butterfly House.   Location: Migration Station Education Arena
