Egyptian Star Cluster

Pentas lanceolata ‘Butterfly Lavender’

Pentas is an annual that thrives in full sun and heat.  Dozens of star-shaped flowers form tight clusters and several clusters will appear on a plant.  It is attractive to a variety of pollinators, including butterflies.  The Butterfly series of hybrids includes several fine flowering types with a variety of colors from cranberry red to white. The ‘Butterfly Lavender’ cultivar features dark green foliage with light lavendar flowers. The plant gets its name Pentas from the Greek word for five.  It features five petals, stamens and sepals for each flower.
