Camellia ‘Winter’s Waterlily’

Camellia x ‘Winter’s Waterlily’

This plant is a hybrid developed from a cross between a tea oil plant (Camellia oliefera ‘Plain Jane’) and a fall blooming camellia (Camellia sasanqua ‘Mine-no-yuki’).  The rounded shrub features leathery dark green leaves.  When partly open, the white flowers are more frost resistant than many other camellias.

This hybrid was developed by Dr. William Ackerman at the National Arboretum.  He has developed a number of cold hardy camellias.
