Our Education department offers a variety of educational programs, tailored to meet the needs of a specific audience. School programs are designed for each grade level and are available through group registration. Other programs are designed especially for unique audiences such as scouts, families and homeschool students. We also offer learning programs for those beyond school age with a variety of adult classes. For educational programs, please select a link on the left. For individual classes, please see our calendar in the Programs & Events section.
BRING YOUR STUDENTS TO EXPLORE THE GARDEN
Help your students’ knowledge of the environment grow with our garden-based programs. Tours and hands-on programs will reinforce what they are learning in school and present them with tangible examples of the subject matter. Our garden teachers use the resources of an 155-acre classroom to help your students get the most out of their trip. So join us for a program developed just for your grade level and watch each child blossom.
Classroom Educator Visits: Bring your classroom teachers, volunteers and administrators to the Garden to prepare for lessons for your classroom. Your visit includes reduced admission, a pre-visit telephone consultation with a member of our Youth Education department and on-site orientation. Cost: $6/Educator. Pre-registration required.
Boat tours for Educators: $150 fee reserves a guided boat tour highlighting the plants and wildlife around Lake Whitehurst. Reserve up to 23 seats on a private boat tour (2 boats available for groups-for a maximum of 46 seats). Guests can also purchase tickets individually for the public boat tour on a first come basis. See visitor center for public boat tour schedule and ticket pricing.
